Trames 6 - 2013
March 5-8, 2013
Twenty-four hours in the life of Tina Pools looking for her happiness, Marie Henry
Théâtre de la Place, Liège

Marie Henry, the playwright
Project description
TRAMES is originally a project of the French national drama centre “La Comédie de Saint-Etienne” carried out with the help of the “European Theatre Convention” and the “Beaumarchais” foundation. TRAMES wants to contribute towards the circulation of plays in European countries. In order to create the best conditions for this target, the organizing theatre seeks partner theatres in other countries within the ETC. Each of these partners appoints a translator and a director to work on the chosen play.
In March 2013, the Théâtre de la Place in Liège, Belgium, organises the next TRAMES workshop based on the play “Les 24h de Tina Pools à la recherché de son Bonheur” by the young Belgium playwright Marie Henry. The translators will come to Belgium for one week in order to work with the playwright and to discuss translation issues related to the play : methodology, possible problems, consistency for instance, whilst directors will work together in partnership with the author and each relevant translator. At the end of the workshop a short presentation of the work as well as a staged reading of the play in its original language will be organised in collaboration with the compagnie Jean-Claude Berutti at the Théâtre de la Place in Liège. Back in their own countries, translators should finish off their tasks, whilst directors should stage a production or a staged reading in their respective languages.
