ETC advocacy actions
The 2011 ETC work programme will be dedicated to implement the resolution ‘Theatre: Wealth of the People, for the People’ ratified by the ETC member theatres as a response to the green paper “Unlocking the potential of cultural and creative industries”.
Representing a cultural industry that reaches out annually to more than 8 Million citizens with over 16 000 public performances and events and employs more than 11 000 theatre professionals and thousands of artists in at least 24 countries, the ETC will lay in 2011 the longterm foundations to strengthen our advocacy role on a European level: to influence the policy decision making process and shape the EU agenda on issues such as education, multilingualism, social inclusion and new technologies. To pursue a pro-active dialogue we will meet with different DGs of the European Commission and relevant bodies of the European Parliament to establish a privileged partnership. Complementary the following activities will be undertaken in 2011: Continuous work in the platforms “Access to Culture”, “Cultural & Creative Industries” and the working group “Regional policies and development”, taking part in EU consultation processes on policy issues related to our work.
