FAQ

Why should a theatre join the ETC membership?

The motivation of joining the ETC network has to lie in the willingness to take an active part in the theatre development in Europe. The network is heavily depending on the activities and initiatives of the members, that is why any new member has to support and be ready to take part in activities initiated by the ETC and other members.

My theatre would like to tour in Europe, is the ETC a network for us?

The ETC consists of a network of theatres all around Europe. The relations that are created between the members often result in exchanges of performances and other artistic exchanges. However, a membership in the ETC does not insure that your performances will be invited to other theatres. The motivation of joining the ETC should preferably be extended beyond the will to tour with your own performances.

My theatre is a small theatre company, can we join the ETC?

Most of the ETC members are by tradition medium-big or big theatre institutions, such as national and municipal theatres. There is no restriction of the size of a theatre concerning the membership. It is however important for any theatre entering the network to know that the membership fee at 5500€ is not negotiable, and that your theatre has to be a publicly funded theatre.

My theatre does not have the possibility to pay the membership fee for 5500€, could we become associate members instead?

No, you can’t choose the membership according to your financial capacity. The theatre members are always full members, and the associate membership is reserved for theatrical structures that are not theatres, such as theatre centres, editors, festivals etc...

If I cannot become a member can I still be informed of the ETC activities?

You can receive the newsletter with general information on the ETC activities and development. To subscribe, click here Newsletter
