Georgian Showcase in Tbilisi

 

For the third year in a row, the ETC and Tbilisi International Festival of Theatre - Kote Marjanishvili State Drama Theatre are enhancing a successful collaboration in the frame of the project “Theatre is Dialogue – Dialogue of Cultures: European networking with Eastern European theatres”.

In 2017, a scholarship program allows for a Ukrainian delegation to visit the Georgian Showcase from 2 -7 October and explore the theatrical landscape of Georgia. ETC and Tbilisi International Festival of Theatre - Georgian Showcase invite artists, theatre professionals and cultural managers of the Ukrainian “Post Residency Theatre Group” to meet and network with Georgian and international performing arts professionals. Mentored and accompanied by Uwe Gössel, vice-chairman of German Dramaturgical Society, aesthetics, forms and topics of the presented performances within current dramaturgical developments will be in focus of their international exchange.

Furthermore, Kote Marjanishvili State Drama Theatre hosts a Ukrainian fellow to support their team in International projects management and Public Relations for four weeks from 1 – 30 October.


Uwe Gössel

Uwe Gössel is a freelance dramaturg, theatremaker and lecturer, based in Berlin. Projects in Berlin (Deutsches Theater), München (Kammerspiele), Reykjavik (National Theatre and City Theatre), Kiev (DAKH/Goethe-Institut/ETC), Tunis (JTC-Festival) and Strausberg. He studied Applied Cultural Studies and Aesthetic Practice at Hildesheim University, graduating with a diploma in Applied Cultural Studies. He was a dramaturg at the Volkstheater Rostock from 1999 to 2002 and subsequently at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin until 2004. From 2006 to 2014 he run the International Forum within the Theatertreffen / Berliner Festspiele. He was a member of the jury of several festivals (Theatertreffen for German-speaking theatre schools as well as for the festival NRW-Favoriten and the Kleist-Förderpreis award). In Japan, Ukraine, Togo and Tunisia he conducted theatre workshops. Since 2005 he has been a board member of the board and since 2015 as vice chairman of the Dramaturgs’ Society: www.dramaturgische-gesellschaft.de
