ETC Working Group

In the frame of the ETC program Theater is Dialogue – Dialogue of Cultures: European networking with Eastern European theatres ETC has initiated a working group of Ukrainian theatre professionals, most of them participants of the ETC 2015 scholarship program and representatives of both ETC’s associated members Dakh Theatre and Kiev Academic Molodiy Theatre. The creation of the working group is the attempt to involve members of the civil society and stakeholders in a democratic consultation process and engage in a structured dialogue between and with policy-makers. The aim of the group is to further professionalize its new contacts and discuss, explore and elaborate with both theatres:

- new possibilities of collaboration between the independent theatre scene and public theatre houses

- potentials of an infrastructure that promotes independent artists and companies offering sources of funding, co-production and space

- recommendations with concrete measures to advance the work of the independent Ukrainian theatre scene both on a content and financial level with a possible action plan.

The recommendations formulated by the group shall be presented to the relevant public ministry authorities in Ukraine. The group works in agreement with and upon the guidance of ETC.

In collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Kiev, a first presentation of the findings and recommendations formulated by the group will take place during a “round table” discussion with the Ukrainian minister of culture on 20 December 2016 in Kiev. For more information, see the announcement on the website of the Goethe-Institut.
