2016

International artistic collaboration and theatre management

ETC's European Theatre Academy participants at the Festival d'Avignon in July 2016.

What the participants of the 2016 ETC European Theatre Academy are saying:

Julia Weinreich, dramaturg, Staatsschauspiel Dresden: "The ETC is a must! In times where the great European ideas of our grandfathers and grandmothers seem to gradually vanish and a new (or not so new) nationalism is as much growing as the call for more borders instead of less, it might sound odd, but while we all have different skin tones, our blood is still red. That is the fluid which sticks us together. To put it into a nutshell: the ETC is a huge chance to develop artistic cooperations, to work on theatre exchanges and - last but not least - to create new friendships."

Report by Henning Bochert, playwright, translator and producer, Drama Panorama: http://henningbochert.de/2016/07/european-theatre-academy-beim-avignon-festival/#more-9531 (in German).

Master classes and workshops for theatre directors, managers and administrators, touring and theatre production managers

5 – 9 July 2016, Festival d’Avignon

Equipping young theatre makers from both public theatre institutions and the independent performing arts sector with know-how and skills to internationalize their work environment, professionalize their international competences, and position their work in the international performing arts scene in Europe and beyond. The focus of the academy is to provide an overview on existing and proved cooperation forms and opportunities for international collaboration, considering both artistic and practical financial and legal aspects in the European context, embracing questions of funding and support, as well as language and translation.

Together with leading personalities and institutions in Europe, the Academy will offer emerging theatre directors and producers an important moment of reflection and exchange and a platform for professional networking. Participants of the European Theatre Academy are asked to bring concrete collaboration proposals and international project ideas that will be discussed and further developed as part of the master classes. International artists present at the Festival d’Avignon will meet with participants of the European Theatre Academy, sharing their work experience and give valuable insights.

Registration to the academy requires personal presence throughout the entire time of the program.
